How to Calibrate a Wii Remote

Why is calibrating a Wii Remote important?
Calibrating any sort of peripheral device is key to playing a video game properly. Since the Nintendo Wii relies on your people able to interact with the Wii Remote, making sure it is calibrated properly is the only way to ensure the right game play. Without calibrating, your movements and actions may be shaky and all over the screen. This means that you will not be able to play properly, or if you still try to play, you may not be able to achieve the goals set for on levels to advance through a video game for the Wii. Calibrating the Wiimote is simple, takes a few minutes and will make playing any game on the console a more satisfying experience.
What happens if you do not calibrate a Wii Remote?
Without calibrating a Wii Remote, you set yourself up for failure. For example, if you are playing a first person shooting and your Wiimote is off, your crosshair will not be where it needs to be to shoot an enemy. If this is the case, and you are working your way through a level, you may take a shot between the eyes and actually hit the enemy in the ear which leaves them alive and you susceptible to harm. This makes game play harder than it needs to be. Any gamer who does not take the time to calibrate their Wii Remote is not taking advantage of everything the console and games have to offer.
How to calibrate a Wii remote
There are two steps to calibrating the Wii Remote. First, you want to ensure your sensor bar settings are optimal. This means going into your Nintendo Settings and letting your system know whether the sensor bar is above or below the TV; this makes game play much easier as the console knows where you are pointing your Remote relative to where you are standing. Once that is done, you must calibrate your Wiimote. This can be done via in-game settings, as each game has different calibration needs. Some games do not need them at all, but make sure you check each game to be sure and walk through whatever calibration test they have to offer to get the most out of your Wii Remote, Nintendo Wii and game play experience.
