WinRAR is a third party file extraction program that helps zip and unzip files and folders.  WinRAR is primarily associated with the .RAR extension, but it can also unzip and create .ZIP folders as well as many other lesser known extensions.  Once you download, install and eventually purchase WinRAR, you have full use of the program to extract a folder, files and other documents hidden with a compressed folder.

There are two ways to extract a folder with WinRAR. You can do it by opening the program itself or you can do it by right-clicking on the .RAR folder you need to uncompress. The latter is the easiest way to use WinRAR. Once you have downloaded a .RAR or .ZIP folder, you simply right-click on it. When the context menu pops up, you simply say you want to unzip the file and from there, the program does what it needs to extract the files, folders or other documents within the zipped folder.

When using WinRAR itself, you want to first open the program. If you have the trial version, it may alert you to the fact or if the trial is up, it will prompt you to purchase the full version so you can continue to use it. Once this is taken care of, you simply choose the files you want to unzip and unzip them from the main menu. The program will determine which files are unzippable and list them in this menu, then you can unzip what you need from there.

WinRAR is relatively easy to use.  If you are not extracting folders, you can also zip files, folders and other information on your system.  Learning how to use WinRAR is easy with a guide, tutorials and the help feature.  Extracting WinRAR archives is simple, easy to do and anybody can do it.
