If you want to give Greasemonkey a shot, it is relatively easy to install.  For those of you who do not know what Greasemonkey is, where have you been?  Greasemonkey is one of the pinnacle Firefox extensions.  It allows you to change the way your browser interacts with your favorite web sites.  If you ever wanted more from the Internet, Greasemonkey is the extension to do just that for you.

First, you want to install the Greasemonkey script.  Once you visit Firefox's extension page, you want to click the Install button and install it just like any other extension you would install.  Once it is installed, you want to restart Firefox and then you have to hunt down scripts for the web sites you visit.  Userscripts.org is the biggest home of Greasemonkey scripts, and you will be able to find anything and everything you would want to do a web site there.

Once you have found a script that you want to install, you can click on it and Greasemonkey will automatically install it.  Keep in mind that these scripts are from third party developers and they may not be the most stable of coding jobs.  They can cause Firefox to crash and become unstable, but you will not know until you install it.  In most cases, scripts can be commented on, so that you know from other users if there might be problems or not from a given script.

Over time, you will get the hang of how to install, uninstall and change the options of various scripts.  Greasemonkey allows you to disable scripts, too, to see if a problem with a web site can be rectified by uninstalling a script.  Using Greasemonkey is not that hard, and once you get the hang of it, you will wonder how you ever browsed the Internet without it.
