Why reset a talent tree?

During the course of playing World of Warcraft, you may opt to reset a talent tree to better suit your game play.  Resetting a talent tree should never be taken lightly as it erases the entire tree and costs gold to do so.  The first time is free but after that the price rises for each reset.  Most players reset a talent build to try out a new spec, utilize a hybrid of specs or even utilize another player’s spec to change how they do damage, tank or heal.  There are many web sites, blogs and forums out there that share some of the top talent trees for anyone to take advantage of.

How to reset a talent tree

Any player can visit their class trainer anywhere in Azeroth to purchase a talent tree reset.  Once purchased, all talent points will be wiped from the chosen spec and returned to the player.  From there, a player has to spend them between the trees like they did when they earned the points to begin with.  If a player is dual specced, whatever current spec they are in is the one that will be reset when they pay the fee.  If they want to respec in both specialties, they have to pay a fee for both and then respend the talent points.

What to do after resetting a talent tree

After a talent tree is reset, a player will be awarded the number of talent points up to the level they currently are.  If you are level 80, this means you have 71 talent points to spend among the three trees.  You will have to go into each tree, spend your points until they are used up to take full advantage of the reset.  Keep in mind that once you spend a point, the only way to get it back is to reset again.  Many World of Warcraft players use a talent calculator to preview how they spend points before doing so to avoid wasting a talent tree point.
