How to Use Demonoid
What is Demonoid?
Demonoid is the second largest bit torrent tracker behind The Pirate Bay. It hosts torrents that users can download and then use to download the actual files they are looking for. Demonoid is a bit more exclusive than other torrent hosting sites as users have to be invited and then register for the service before using it. Invites are given to users based on the amount of time and their contributions to the seeding process. The invite system forces users to do more to get on the site and the quality of torrents generally is higher.
How to use demonoid
The first step to using Demonoid is to get an invited. Once you have, you can register and begin browsing torrent files. You can simply search for what you are looking for and narrow down the results based on the type of media. By doing this, you get more accurate search results just like using the Google or Yahoo search engine. Clicking on the torrent results brings up the information the original uploader provides on what you are looking for. You can then download it and load it into another program, like LimeWire, and download the whole file over time from other seeders. Demonoid can keep track of your upload/download ratio based on the torrent you downloaded from them.
Is using Demonoid legal?
Using bit torrent trackers is a bit of a legal sticky ground. While downloading movies, music and other files is illegal when you do not purchase them, simply having a torrent file is not. However, once you use that torrent, you are breaking the law by downloading files illegally. Since these sites can be tracked, you can be found out easily by law enforcement agencies investigating on the behalf of movie studios, recording companies and more. If you use Demonoid, use it with caution and be careful of what you download. It is up to you to take responsibility for your downloads because you will be the one held accountable.
