How to Use Google+'s Ignore Feature

By

Source: Google+

Just like anywhere you go online, you want to be able to ignore and block users who might be bothering you during your daily routine. Perhaps, these are friends that have just been growing on your nerves or others who are spamming you or posting things you do not want to see. Facebook, Twitter and other social networks allow you to block and report users. Google+ has allowed you to block people since day one but now they also allow you to ignore other users which is a less intensive form of block.

Google+ ignore allows you to stop people from commenting on your posts or tagging you in your Incoming Stream. When you see a notification pop up and someone has tagged you in your Incoming Stream, you can click the "Ignore" link next to the post or head to the Stream page to do it from there. You will see Ignore pop up in several places but until you need to use it chances are you will not be able to find it easier. You can ignore any user who tags you and this stops them from being able to do so into the future.

Google+'s ignore feature is a step down from blocking someone. When you block someone on Google+, they cannot interact with you at all and they can figure it out right away. This applies to new posts, pictures or comments you post along with everything that has happened before that moment, including things the blocked user has already commented on. The ignore feature allows you to judge for yourself, especially when it comes to random people tagging you, if they are worth your time or not or just to give them a short time out. Google+ gives you two ways to deal with people on the network depending on the degree of annoyance.
