What is The Wrath of the Lich King?

World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King was the second expansion pack released to add new features to the MMORPG.  It was released on November 13, 2008.  This was the first WoW title released in DVD-Rom format for the regular software version to make it easier and quicker to install the title.  Some of the main features introduced included raising the level cap to 80, integrating Death Knights into the pre-existing world and giving us a glimpse into the Lich King's emergence in Northrend.  Icecrown Citadel, the Lich King's domain nestled into Icecrown, has the Alliance and Horde racing to stop him from destroying the world as they know it.

Northrend is by far the single biggest change the World of Warcraft game.  The new zones in Northrend offer players the chance to quest, adventure and learn new lore about the world they thought they knew.  Upon reaching level 77, players can purchase Cold Weather Training and take advantage of flying mounts throughout the continent.  WotLK also provided the first world PVP environment in the Wintergrasp zone.  Upon entering Wintergrasp, all players are marked for PVP combat.  Every two hours, the Alliance and Horde forces due battle for control of the territory.

In order to upgrade to The Wrath of the Lich King, a WoW player has to have The Burning Crusade expansion pack already installed.  Then, once WotLK is purchased, they can provide the product registration code and begin accessing the new content the pack has to offer.  Since WotLK introduces so much new content, especially in regards to Northrend, it is recommended to install the software remotely as opposed to downloading it over the Internet if your connection is less than stellar.  Once your product code is activated, you can take full advantage of everything World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King has to offer.
