Blu Ray Player or Playstation 3
One of the biggest decisions to make when jumping to HDTV is whether or not to invest in Blu Ray. There are three primary ways to get Blu Ray: Using a Blu Ray player, using a computer with a built-in Blu Ray drive or using a PlayStation 3. In most cases, it comes down to picking between a standalone Blu Ray player or Playstation 3, since most are not ready to invest in Blu Ray simply on their computer.
A standalone Blu Ray player allows you to watch these films on your TV and that is that. For those who are not into gaming, it is the easiest solution to get Blu Ray brought into your home. Since the price of Blu Ray players has gone down considerably, it can now be cheaper in some cases when watching deals to buy a Blu Ray player as opposed to the PlayStation 3.
Going the PlayStation 3 route gives you the opportunity to take advantage of both Blu Ray films and next generation gaming. For the gamer, this is the best of both worlds. Many PlayStation's come with bundles, too, that come with a game and movie to get them started. They can be easily connected to a HDTV and with the right cables, you are good to go.
When it comes to making the leap to Blu Ray, it comes down to your personal preferences. If you are a gamer, buying a PlayStation 3 and using that as a Blu Ray player while buying the games you want to play. Otherwise, going with just a Blu Ray player now may be the best option. Why invest in a PlayStation 3 when you will not play games on it? Take the time to weigh your options as far as what you will get out of both units, and then go from there. Either way investing in Blu Ray after purchasing a new HDTV is the best way to get the most out of high-definition.
