Clearing your cache is an essential part to keeping your Internet browser running smoothly. However, there are several ways to go about clearing the cache depending on the browser you are using. This is just a basic guide to doing it; you should always check out the instructions for the particular browser you are using. By simply opening up the Help document for it, you should be able to find the instructions needed.

The cache stores static pages so that you browser can easily load web sites and only integrate in the new content. This makes loading web pages quicker than they would if they had to load brand new every single time you visited. However, over time, your cache can bog down the browser which is why you need to clear it every once in awhile. If you go into the Settings or Preferences of your browser, you should be able to find a way to delete or clear the cache. This is generally under the Internet Options portion of the settings, although different browsers call this general idea by various names.

While you are clearing the cache, you can also tweak the settings. You can set how much space is dedicated to saving cache. This can help keep the amount of temporary files down to a minimum. It can also help keep it from overrunning your browser and slowing things down when you are surfing the Internet. In other settings, you can also set up a schedule for the browser to automatically clear the cache on your behalf. It could be once a week, once a month or even after every time you close the browser. This setting should depend on your browsing habits.

If you have never cleared your cache before, you might want to go in and do so. It can add up, slow down your browser and most of the cache is from web sites you will never visit again or only visit every once in awhile. You should notice a difference once the cache is cleared, and you can set up a schedule so that you do not have to remember to go in and do it manually when things get slow.
