There are three big name next generation consoles on the market: The Xbox 360, the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. Depending on the type of gaming you do, you have two choices: You go with the system that offers the better graphics or the system that offers the better innovation. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 offer the latest high-definition imaging and video playback. The Nintendo Wii offers the latest innovations with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk feature. So, it comes down to what type of gaming you want to do when it comes to which next generation console is right for you.
Do you have a next generation console?
Which one?
See results without votingThe first question you should ask yourself when making the jump to a next generation console is what aspect of gaming is most important to you. If you choose games, as most gamers do, going with the 360 or PS3 will most likely be the right choice. Since both systems offer the widest selection of adult gaming, franchises like Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and Soul Caliber are primarily designed for high-definition playback. Since the Wii's focus is not HD playback, you would lose out on playing these games by investing in the Wii.
However, if you are looking for kid-friendly content or more interactive game play, the Wii is the way to go. Since the Wii Remote allows for more physical interaction with your game, Wii Sports is the perfect example of how you can get involved with your game beyond sitting in front of the TV playing. The PS3 and 360 do not offer this type of interaction, but they do offer more advanced networks for gaming online.
If you are still undecided, or you want to invest in more than one, do so! When it comes to gaming, there are titles on all three systems that would be enjoyed by all consumers. Since the Wii offers family appeal, there is a certain physical interaction that takes place between gamer and game that the PS3 or 360 cannot offer. Investing in one or the other might make sense for some gamers, but if you truly are looking to capture the next generation feel, going with the Wii and one of the others is the best way to take advantage of all that gaming has to offer now.
